How to Avoid Cleaning your Wax Melt Burner Bowl!

So, I wonder who enjoys cleaning our their used wax melt burner bowl? Unlike candles where the wax is burned up as fuel and consequently disappears as the candle burns down, this is not the case with wax melts..If the wax melts are soya wax then it is not too difficult a job. First of all - never pick up or attempt to clean your bowl until it has cooled down. The old wax will usually scoop out quite easily and you can finish it off with kitchen towel or some hot water and neat washing up liquid. Some people wait until the bowl is almost completely cold so the wax comes out really easily, others prefer to have a good scrape at the cold hard wax with a teaspoon or similar implement!

If you are using a mix of soya and a harder wax such as beeswax or any of the harder waxes (see my blog on types of wax) it becomes a rather more difficult and messy task as harder waxes often become tacky and hard.

So, one answer to this little challenge is a wax melt bowl liner!

When you purchase them it is more economical to purchase a pack such as this one. Even though they are re-usable you may want to keep one for each of the fragrances you have.

The inside looks like this above.

Once you have it in situ in your burner bowl it will look something like this. The burner I used here is round and it fitted perfectly but it is pretty flexible and should work fine in an oval or square shape as well.

Then you simply add your wax melt - this is part of one of my 'rejects' which is perfects for experimenting with!

It will gradually melt as it would usually and you get the fragrance just the same.

Here it is completely melted. Once you have used up all the fragrance and you want to remove it, simply let it cool down completely and set.

Then, because the liner is pliable you can just open it up a little and the wax should come away from the sides for easy removal.

Then you just have to lift the wax out and your liner is ready for re-use.

Simple! and no scraping and cleaning. Obviously there is a cost to these but shop around and look at buying a multi-pack to get the best price. If you weigh up the advantages vs cost then you can decide whether it is something you would like to try.

I don't know how many uses each one will have but I was pretty impressed with this one after one use.
